Albertus Magnus College has launched a new “Career eXcelerator” program geared to make students’ resumes stand out while also preparing them for long-term career success.
According to Albertus President Mark M. Camille, the program is being offered at no cost to full-time students and consists of a series of online mini courses taught by experts in various industries.
The short, stackable certifications and micro-credentials will be offered online through Coursera and feature employer-desired skills and credentials. Albertus is the first college in Connecticut to bring the Coursera-based programs to its students, according to Camille. Courses in the eXcelerator program will be taught by industry experts from corporations such as Goodwill, Google, IBM, Meta, Intuit, Salesforce, SAP and Tally.
“The Albertus Career eXcelerator program is both mission-centric and market-responsive, continuing a nearly century-long legacy of preparing the college’s graduates for a lifetime of civic engagement and career success,” said Camille.
Camille said the new program offers students “next level preparation” for finding a job.
According to recent alumni surveys, the last seven graduating classes from Albertus have achieved at least 95% success rates in gaining employment or continuing their education.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Sean P. O’Connell said the stackable certifications and micro-credentials available through the Career eXcelerator program will “only add further value to the college’s graduates in the years ahead.”
“Albertus graduates typically stay in Connecticut, and now they’ll be equipped with additional, workplace-relevant skills, ready to add to the state’s workforce and economic well-being,” O’Connell said.
