New president installed for CT Academy of Family Physicians

The Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP) announced Monday that Dr. Sandra Hughes, a family physician at Mansfield Family Practice in Storrs, has been installed as president of the academy.

Hughes has served on the CAFP executive board since 2010. She also serves on the executive committee of the Core Content Review of Family Medicine, an international home study continuing medical education program.

Hughes also has chaired the CAFP Program Committee, which runs the academy’s annual Scientific Symposium, and the CAFP Social Media Committee.

Additionally, Hughes has volunteered to care for the needy in the Dominican Republic through Health Horizons International.

The Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians is a professional medical society that represents 600 family physicians, residents and medical students.
