A Massachusetts pharmacist has opened a new pharmacy across the street from the Bristol Health Medical Center on Main Street in the heart of downtown.
Muhammad Furqan, who lives in Worcester, Mass. but said he will be relocating soon to the area, will be leasing the approximate 2,000-square-foot site for his Bristol Pharmacy, located at 194 Main St.
Furqan is a licensed pharmacist in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Bristol Mayor Jeff Caggiano said the pharmacy fits perfectly in the area, which has been the site of several vacant buildings.
“As we build downtown Bristol into a walkable, viable local community, it will be very beneficial to have an old school, hometown pharmacy with a personal touch to serve the downtown area.” the mayor said. “This pharmacy is opening at a good time since a lot of work is being done to fill in the empty spaces in and around Centre Square.”
The 194 Main St. location had been the home of Catherine’s Uniform Shop.
