New Milford Hospital has received a $15,000 grant from the Ellen Knowles Harcourt Foundation to help finance the purchase of a new computed tomography (CT) simulator for the hospital’s regional cancer center.
The equiptment is used by radiation oncologists during cancer treatment to help customize patient care by “simulating” radiation therapy.
CT simulators construct 3D images that locate and record, in one procedure, different densities of tissue, organs, and bones. The 3D images allow physicians to create radiation treatment plans that are tailored very specifically to each patient.
