New manager for Waterbury’s CoCo Key

A New York hotel operator recently hired to run one of Bristol’s biggest hotels has been hired to run one of downtown Waterbury’s largest.

Prestige Hospitality Group, of Albany, N.Y., will manage the 282-room CoCo Key Water Resort & Convention Center on East Main Street.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Long Island businessman Tejinder Singh purchased CoCo Key in March at a real estate auction, with a winning bid between $4 million to $4.5 million for the property.

The former Connecticut Grand Hotel and Conference Center also has 40,000 square feet of meeting space, plus the 55,000-square-foot water park.

Las Vegas investor Dr. Gerald A. Niznick owns the Clarion, which is slated to rebranded as DoubleTree by Hilton in 2012.
