New law allows CT towns to save on drugs

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has signed legislation that allows towns to buy prescription drugs for municipal employees through the state, The Associated Press reports.

Municipalities may now take advantage of the state’s ability to buy drugs at lower cost because of its larger pool of employees.

The new law also allows towns to join together to buy prescription drugs for their employees.

The legislation won unanimous approval in the state House of Representatives. The Senate passed it by a vote of 27-8 vote.
