A New Jersey-based law firm is expanding into Connecticut after adding the entire legal team of one of Greenwich’s oldest firms.
Mandelbaum Barrett PC said 24 attorneys and staff from Ivey, Barnum & O’Mara LLC will join the firm effective Jan. 1. The move gives Mandelbaum Barrett a Connecticut presence and expands its footprint into New England.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1950, Ivey, Barnum & O’Mara has long been one of the largest law firms based in Greenwich, with practice areas that include real estate, trusts and estates, business law, employment law, litigation and personal injury.
Mandelbaum Barrett was founded in Newark in 1930 and now has about 150 attorneys, with offices in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Colorado and Connecticut.
The deal comes amid a broader increase in law firm combinations nationally and in Connecticut, as smaller and midsize firms face mounting pressure to compete for talent, clients, geographic reach and technology investments.
