A new hockey rink that offers training and rehabilitation has opened in Stamford.
Wings Arena has launched a 40,000-square-foot hockey facility, at 50 Barry Place, that features a first-floor hockey rink and EN Hockey’s training program. It also has a Mattehorn Fit sports rehabilitation clinic, gym and skate-rental area in a 10,000-square-foot area on the second floor.
“Our vision is to bring together top-tier resources under one roof and create an environment where athletes – and anyone committed to health and fitness – feel inspired to reach their full potential,” said Francois Magnant, CEO of Wings Arena and general manager the Greenwich Skating Club.
A private investment group built the rink over the last two years for an undisclosed sum, according to Magnant.
Benoit Miron, of Greenwich, doing business as Barry Place Holdco LLC, bought the 2.6-acre property in 2023 for $4.4 million from Continental Family Holdings LLC.
Miron is head of index rebalance and events at Greenwich hedge fund WorldQuant, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The Rizutto family, which founded personal-care products company Conair in 1959, demolished a company-owned office building on the property in 2023 with plans of building an ice rink there, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Continental Family Holdings still owns a 9.6-acre parcel nearby at 23 Barry Place, property records show.
