The first phase of a new community hub on Dixwell Avenue in New Haven will get its grand opening Friday evening.
First HAVEN is the new headquarters for the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT) and the Connecticut Community Outreach Revitalization Program (ConnCORP).
It’s part of an eventual $200 million investment in the Dixwell neighborhood, transforming a former strip mall into a community-centered redevelopment.
The first completed 65,000-square-foot building will house not only ConnCORP’s headquarters, but also a new daycare, mental health clinic and workforce training center.
The second phase of the development, which will start before the end of this year, will include an office building, grocery store and apartment complex.
