A proposal to build a 64-unit townhouse community in New Haven’s East Shore neighborhood is headed to a public hearing before the City Plan Commission on July 15.
Southbury-based EG Home is seeking a development permit for a 13.6-acre site at 725 Townsend Ave., and an adjacent parcel on Raynham Hill Drive. The project calls for 16 townhouse buildings containing four units each, along with private roads, parking, utilities and stormwater infrastructure.
According to the application, the development would include two townhouse designs: three-story units with tuck-under garages and two-story units with attached garages and full basements. The homes would be sold rather than rented, with a homeowners association responsible for maintaining the community’s common areas and private road.
The application estimates construction would begin in fall 2026 and conclude in summer 2029. The proposal includes 152 parking spaces and complies with the site’s RS-3 Special Heritage Mixed Use zoning standards, according to the developer.
As part of the review process, the developer recently revised its plans to address city staff comments, including relocating accessible parking spaces, adding speed humps, expanding stormwater documentation and providing additional details on construction sequencing and drainage design.
