A New Haven restaurant has again been caught cheating workers on their pay, this time ordered to reimburse $23,636 to four underpaid employees, federal labor authorities say.
The U.S. Department of Labor says its latest investigation into Goodfellas Cafe LLC, operating as Cafe Goodfellas, turned up repeat violations of wage and labor standards laws.
“This was our second investigation of this establishment in a short period of time,” said Neil Patrick, Hartford district director for the agency’s Wage and Hour Division.
Patrick said a previous investigation recovered $7,000 in minimum and overtime wages for three kitchen employees.
The restaurant also agreed then to comply with the law in the future.
Goodfellas Cafe and owner Gennaro Iannaccone also were fined $1,870 for willful and recurring violations of the wage and labor rules, the agency said. Goodfellas and Iannaccone could not be immediately reached for comment.
