New Haven Biz hires new web editor

Matthew Verrilli joined New Haven Biz as its web editor in February.

In addition to writing news articles, he is responsible for uploading content to the publication’s  website, managing social media and sending out newsletters.

Prior to joining New Haven Biz, Verrilli worked as a reporter for the Manchester-based Journal Inquirer, where he covered general news from local towns. 

Verrilli graduated from the University of New Haven with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in journalism.

Sacred Heart Univ. hires new diversity team member

Sacred Heart University has hired Anne Burmeister as director of institutional equity compliance and support.

In this role, Burmeister will promote equity initiatives across the Fairfield-based Catholic university’s campus.

Burmeister will work with a team led by Maurice Nelson, chief diversity and inclusion officer, to ensure the university has a diverse and supportive environment. Her new job focuses on anti-discrimination work, according to the university.

The bulk of Burmeister’s professional career has been in higher education.

“Inclusive excellence is aspirational, and every step toward that aspiration builds a stronger, more resilient community for all of us,” Burmeister said.
