A New Haven-based restaurant specializing in Santa Fe-style Southwestern cuisine is expanding 1,300 miles south, opening its third location Monday in Delray Beach, Florida.
Geronimo Tequila Bar and Southwest Grill’s new restaurant is on Atlantic Avenue, a walkable downtown corridor known for its nightlife, lined with restaurants, bars, art galleries and boutiques.
The new location brings what co-owner Marc Knight described as an experience “unlike any in the area” to South Florida’s dining scene.
Geronimo, founded by Knight and Robert Bolduc, opened its flagship location at 271 Crown St. in New Haven in 2007, followed by a location at 2070 Post Road in Fairfield in 2013.
The new 3,500-square-foot Delray Beach restaurant seats 180 people and features both indoor and outdoor dining.
The menu includes dishes made with ingredients sourced from New Mexico purveyors, including Hatch green chile stew, tableside guacamole and tacos made with in-house corn tortillas. Main dishes include chile rellenos, elk meatloaf, carne asada and chimayo-sherry-glazed salmon.
Geronimo Tequila Bar and Southwest Grill is part of Geronimo Hospitality Co., which operates restaurants in Connecticut, Florida and Massachusetts.
