New FASB private-company affiliate seats leaders

Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation in Norwalk have seated a chair and members to the newly formed Private Company Council.

The council is a new body that will work with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) to determine whether and when to modify U.S. generally accepted accounting principles for private companies, officials said.

Texas certified public accountant Billy M. Atkinson was named chair. A retired PricewaterhouseCoopers executive, Atkinson was chairman of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy from 2009 to 2010.
