New England unemployment flat in July

New England’s unemployment rate in July was 4.7 percent, which was unchanged from June but down from 5.8 percent a year prior, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That’s below the national unemployment rate of 5.3 percent, also unchanged from June, and down from 6.2 percent in July 2014.

From June to July, Connecticut was the only New England state that had a statistically significant change in unemployment. The state’s July unemployment rate was 5.4 percent, down from 5.7 percent in June and 6.4 percent a year prior.
