The new L.L. Bean retail store in Enfield is set to open early next month, company officials announced this week.
The newest location for the Freeport, Maine-based outdoor equipment, furniture and clothing company is a 25,000-square-foot space in Brookside Plaza, at 10 Hazard Ave., and will be open as of Oct. 4.
This is one of four new locations opening for the iconic retailer, as well as the third L.L. Bean store to open in Connecticut, joining sites in South Windsor and Danbury. The New Haven store, formerly at The Shops at Yale, closed in February.
Company officials said the closing, relocation and opening of new sites is part of its growth strategy of investing in physical locations.
The new store will employ 50 full- and part-time employees and is still seeking new hires.Â
L.L. Bean was founded in 1912 in Freeport, Maine, and sells men’s, women’s and kid’s active and casual apparel as well as outerwear, footwear, outdoor gear and home goods.Â
The company’s annual revenue for fiscal year 2023 was $1.7 billion, which is the company’s third highest revenue mark, yet a slight decrease from the previous year’s $1.8 billion revenue, according to the company.
