Downtown Torrington’s Warner Theatre has leased its 6,000 square feet of restaurant space to an operator who will launch a new dining concept in 2011, called Backstage.
Connecticut real estate investor and concert promoter Keith Mahler and his Backstage Torrington LLC, of Waterbury, signed up for the space formerly occupied by the Cambridge House Brew Pub, authorities say.
Lease terms and other financial information were not disclosed.
Mahler said he has hired another Waterbury firm, DT Media Group, and restaurant consultant Bob DeZinno to help him refine his restaurant concept and brand.
The restaurant space includes a barroom, a large dining room, and two private areas, all of which can accommodate 220 guests at any one time. January 2011 is the planned opening.
Backstage will feature crafted burgers with specialty toppings, among other homestyle recipes. DeZinno said.
The brewery equipment will be dismantled, but the new restaurant plans to still offer as many as 100 beer selections, along with wine and liquor, officials said.
