Traders will soon be able to trade U.S.-listed stocks nearly around the clock during the workweek.
Stamford-based 24 Exchange, an online trading platform based at One Landmark Square, plans to launch the first stage of its 24X National Exchange on Sept. 29.
Beginning on September 29, the 24X National Exchange will offer trading of U.S. equities from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Eastern Time) on weekdays as the first stage.
Pending final approvals and market infrastructure alignment, the exchange will launch a second stage that will expand trading from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8 p.m Friday, with a one-hour daily operational pause for software maintenance and testing.
The launch date for the Exchange’s second stage will be announced at a later date, the company said.
24X National Exchange currently employs about three dozen people in Stamford and will have about 50 employees during the exchange’s stage-two launch in 2026, a company spokesman told the Hartford Business Journal.
The exchange will be the first national securities exchange designed for global access and approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to offer 23-hour weekday trading of U.S. equities, the company said.
It will allow both institutional and retail investors anywhere in the world to trade U.S. equities via participating broker-dealers across nearly the entire day, five days a week. It will operate under full SEC regulatory oversight and with all the standard investor protections afforded to national exchanges, 24 Exchange said.
It will focus its initial efforts on meeting the growing demand for overnight trading in U.S. equities among tech-savvy retail investors throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
“We’re proud to lead the next chapter in exchange evolution as we bring extended hours trading to retail traders around the world,” founder and CEO Dmitri Galinov said. “With this first stage launch, we’re one big step closer to making 23-hour weekday trading a reality for U.S. equities worldwide.”
24X National Exchange received SEC approval last November to operate 23/5 trading hours, subject to the implementation of necessary modifications to equity data plans and a subsequent rule filing with the SEC confirming compliance with the Securities Exchange Act.
24X National Exchange, which is built on a technology infrastructure from MEMX Technologies, said it will observe U.S. market holidays.
