A new child-care operation could be coming to Newington.
Tiffany West, owner of Hartford-based Around the Clock 4 Tots LLC, is seeking a special permit to operate a facility in space at the Temple Sinai at 41 West Hartford Road, Newington, which has long hosted a child-care center.
The facility would operate from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and accommodate no more than 45 children ages three months to 10 years old, and up to 25 staff members, contingent on the number of children enrolled.
Temple Sinai would serve as landlord to the facility, which would occupy 3,500 square feet over two floors.Â
West, in her application to Newington’s Planning and Zoning Commission, said she hopes to open as early as September, but could be delayed to December pending town land use and state licensing approvals.
The space has long been used as a child-care center, Previously, it was The Family Tree Childcare and Learning Center, which closed in October 2022. Prior to that, the space was used by The Hansel and Gretel Nursery School from 1992 to 1997.
