As the Major League Baseball season gets underway, New Britain toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker is sponsoring six teams including the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets.
Stanley will be the teams’ official tool sponsor, and feature its most popular brands like DeWalt, Stanley and Craftsman, the company said. The theme of Stanley’s sponsorship will be ‘Those Who Make The World,’ Executive Vice President of Global Tools & Storage Jaime Ramirez said.
“Our partnership with each of these six MLB clubs will enable us to engage with baseball fans and celebrate the makers and the iconic brands that empower them to make the world,” Ramirez said.
In addition to the Sox and Mets, Stanley will sponsor the Miami Marlins, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds and Oakland Athletics for the 2021 season. Stanley has partnered with major league baseball teams for 13 years, but this season’s sponsorships come after a blockbuster 2020 for the company.
Stanley saw a bright silver lining to the COVID-19 pandemic: a phenomenon of home-bound people buying Stanley tools online and at retail outlets to work on home improvement projects.
Year-over-year, Stanley’s profit rose 26% to $1.2 billion in 2020, compared with just under $956 million the year before. Stanley did $14.5 billion in 2020 sales, compared with $14.4 billion the prior year.
