New Britain’s MicroCare sold to Norwalk investment firm

New Britain-based MicroCare LLC, which manufactures cleaning products for electronics, has been sold to a Norwalk-based investment firm.

Capital Partners purchased MicroCare, which currently employs about 80 people across locations in New Britain, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Singapore, for an undisclosed sum.

Since 1983 the company had been owned by the Clapp and Jones families, said Heather Gombos, MicroCare’s vice president of business operations. But with the owners approaching retirement age, and looking for a way to finance future growth of the company past their stewardship, they found a good buyer in Capital Partners, Gombos said.

Under the agreement, MicroCare’s management will still handle day-to-day operations, according to the company. Tom Tattersall, MicroCare’s former COO, will now serve as the company’s CEO.
