New Britain Stadium, which houses the Rock Cats minor league baseball team until the end of the current season, has received an animal rights group’s nod for its vegetarian food choices.
The sometimes controversial People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) ranked the stadium in first place on a list of vegetarian-friendly minor league ballparks.
The ranking mentions the stadium’s vegetarian hot dogs, hamburgers, wraps, fresh fruit and other selections.
PETA opposes eating and wearing animal products as well as experimenting on or abusing animals. The nonprofit has been criticized for some of its protest methods and scientific claims, as well as its euthanization of animals in its shelters.
