New Britain shed maker refunding customers after closure

The owner of New England Sheds in New Britain has cooperated with state officials in refunding more than $33,000 to customers who never received the sheds they paid for when the business closed last summer, the state Department of Consumer Protection announced.

Nineteen customers will receive refunds, after DCP worked with owner Demetrios Katras to identify outstanding orders after the business failed due to “competitive forces and unfortunate family events,” DCP said in a statement.

The agency believes it has identified all customers deserving refunds, but encouraged those who believe they have not been made whole to file a written complaint at dcp.frauds@ct.gov.
