New Britain law firm Ericson, Scalise and Mangan acquires Avon practice

New Britain law firm Ericson, Scalise and Mangan is expanding with its acquisition of the Avon office of Attorney Michael J. Donoghue.

In a statement released Monday, officials with Ericson, Scalise and Mangan said the buyout will expand the range of legal services available to clients of both firms.

Ericson, Scalise and Mangan, also known as ESM, specializes primarily in estate planning, probate matters, real estate and elder law. Donoghue’s practice is focused on estates and trusts, probate and business planning.

Financial details of the linkup were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased with this acquisition and how closely our values and practice areas are aligned,” said Managing Partner Robert Scalise, Jr. “We look forward to working closely with Attorney Donoghue through this transition and serving the needs of clients in the greater Avon area.”

Donoghue’s office at 111 Simsbury Road will remain open to serve clients in the area, ESM said, and Donoghue will be on hand to assist during the transition period as the two firms come together.

Donoghue’s long-time paralegal, Judith Henry, will stay on with Ericson, Scalise and Mangan and continue to provide support for probate and estate administration, the firm said.
