New Britain company will relocate HQ to Bristol after $525K purchase of former Nuchie’s banquet hall

A New Britain-based independent wireless device retailer has purchased the former Nuchie’s banquet hall in Bristol for $525,000 and will convert the building into its new corporate headquarters.

Wireless Shop LLC bought the 9,425-square-foot property at 164 Central St. on April 19, according to land records.  The property sits on 1.39-acres and is 92 years old.

According to the town of Bristol, Wireless Shop’s new headquarters will consist of office space and limited storage/warehouse space for wireless devices and supplies.

George Perera, operations manager for the  company, told the Hartford Business Journal that Wireless Shop plans to open its new headquarters by early June and will employ about 25 people there.

The Wireless Shop will use a $78,068 state economic development grant to assist with the conversion of the site.

“Although there is no replacement for Nuchie’s, the [new business] will bring a new generation of a family-owned business,” said Mayor Jeff Caggiano. “Bristol is lucky to keep a little of the old with the new.”

Wireless Shop was formed in 2000 as a cellular wholesaler and provides wireless supplies and equipment to independent wireless device retailers.

Perera said Wireless Shop decided to relocate to Bristol because town leaders “were very supportive from the beginning. It’s also a good location.”
