The New Britain Bees will take to the field tonight for their inaugural home opener at New Britain Stadium. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
The Bees came to New Britain after the departure of the former New Britain Rock Cats to Hartford, where the team is now known as the Hartford Yard Goats. The Yard Goats first home game will not take place until May 31 because of construction delays at Dunkin’ Donuts stadium.
New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart will throw out the ceremonial first pitch along with representatives from the Bees’ corporate sponsors.
The New Britain Bees are a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which is unaffiliated with Major League Baseball.
To celebrate its inaugural season, the Bees will give the first 1,000 fans in attendance a commemorative pennant, and the first of six commemorative pins that the Bees will give out this year.
