A New Britain-based printing company has installed a 227-kilowatt solar array with help from the state’s Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program.
Hitchcock Printing & Distribution Systems, at 191 John Downey Drive, expects the system will allow it to save $1.2 million in energy costs over the next 20 years.
The company operates in a 21,000-square-foot facility that provides printing, creative design, finishing and mailing services.
“The addition of our solar system is a key to staying competitive now and in the future,” said Anthony Bracco, president of Hitchcock Printing. “State-of-the-art equipment, and a highly trained youthful workforce accompanied with a plan to manage our energy costs will ensure that we have an edge in the years to come.”
The system was installed by Smart Roofs Solar Inc. of Monroe.
C-PACE has provided nearly $420 million in funding for building owners to complete energy-saving upgrades since 2013.
