The Landing of North Haven, a new assisted-living and memory-care facility, celebrated its grand opening Thursday with music and tours.
A nursing home, Clintonville Manor, was demolished to make way for the new construction at 201 Clintonville Road.
The Landing started accepting residents on Oct. 21, and now has about 30 people living there. The facility houses 124 apartments, including 87 for assisted living and 37 for memory care.
Eric Piekarz, general manager, said he expects it to be at full capacity by the end of 2020.
“We were able to resurrect something new but similar on the same site,” Piekarz said. “There is a demand for assisted living in the North Haven area.”
Donna Naparstek, sales and marketing director, said the facility has a mix of single residents, married couples and even siblings living with them.
So far, the Landing has hired 60 full and part-time employees, and additional staff will be hired as more residents move in. Ultimately, the facility will have about 100 employees, including a mix of health care and culinary staff. About 80 of these will be full-time positions.
“What sets us apart is we pay extraordinary detail to hospitality — our first focus is on hospitality, and then we also provide medical and assisted living services in a hospitality framework,” Piekarz said.
More than 100 people came to the grand opening celebration on Thursday, which featured music, food and a ribbon-cutting. Visitors were able to take tours of the hotel-like building, which features a restaurant, café/bistro, game room, beauty salon and barber shop, movie theater and fitness center with personal training options.
The facility offers activities for residents on site and the staff also takes them on trips throughout the New Haven area.
“North Haven is such a tight-knit community,” Piekarz said. “We are finding that some of our residents are reconnecting with their high school friends or that they know each other’s relatives. It’s exciting to see the connections being made.”
The Landing is owned by Leisure Care, LLC, which was founded in 1976 and operates 52 retirement communities and nearly 8,000 apartments around the country.
