Landmark Properties, in partnership with Manulife Investment Management, has opened The Standard at Four Corners, an 890-bed student housing community near the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
The complex, at 1725 Storrs Road, was completed on Aug. 15, ahead of the fall semester, and marks Athens, Georgia-based Landmark’s first development in Connecticut.
It is also the first purpose-built, off-campus student housing project in more than a decade.
The developers received $122.5 million in project financing from Wells Fargo Bank in late 2022, according to The Commercial Record. The figure equates to about $137,500 per bed.
The Standard at Four Corners offers 392 units across floorplans ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments, along with 14,500 square feet of ground-floor retail. Amenities include a fitness center, study lounges, a pool and hot tub, and a gaming lounge.
“This project demonstrates the strength of our partnership with Manulife and our ability to deliver differentiated housing in key university markets,” said Jason Doornbos, chief development officer at Landmark Properties.
Landmark manages more than 72,000 beds across 115 residential communities, with $15 billion in assets under management and a development pipeline exceeding $10 billion.
Toronto, Ontario-based Manulife Investment Management, the global wealth and asset management business of Manulife Financial Corp., oversees investment strategies spanning public and private markets for about 19 million clients worldwide.
