Construction of a new 151-unit apartment building in Newington has been completed, according to an announcement Tuesday.
The Pike, a luxury four-story apartment complex that spans two buildings at 227 Pane Road, is accepting applications for its first tenants. According to apartments.com, monthly rents range from $1,882 to $3,050.
The complex, which cost $40 million to build, includes 64 one-bedroom apartments and 87 two-bedroom apartments. Ten percent are designated as affordable and workforce housing for people earning less than 80% of the area median income.
The building’s amenities include a fitness center, community lounge, cafe, conference room and outdoor plaza, with grills and sofas around a fireplace.
The units feature 9-foot ceilings, large windows, in-unit laundry and high-end finishes.
On Tuesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at The Pike, featuring contractors Smith & Henzy Affordable Group, MDG Design & Construction and Konover Residential Corp., as well as the Newington Chamber of Commerce.Â
Smith & Henzy and MDG said they are working to address the shortage of housing in Connecticut, which now stands at about 90,000 units.
