Connecticut finance and insurance businesses with fewer than 100 employees have some of the highest respective salaries in the country, according to a breakdown released this week by consumer finance website NerdWallet.com.
NerdWallet crunched U.S. Census data by state, industry and business size.
It found that Connecticut finance and insurance businesses with between five and 19 employees pay an average of $145,210 — the fifth highest salary of all categories.
Meanwhile, finance and insurance pay among Connecticut companies with between 50 and 99 employees and 20 and 29 employees paid $130,324 and $119,862, respectively, ranking sixth and 10th overall.
The average small business salary in Connecticut was $50,930, the third-highest in the country behind New York and Washington, D.C.
