Neil’s Donuts, a popular New York-style bakery with locations in Wallingford and Middletown, is proposing a new quick-service restaurant in Wethersfield, at 657 Silas Deane Highway, according to pre-application documents filed with the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The filing outlines plans for a 4,800-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru component at the retail property, which is owned by 657 Silas Deane LLC, controlled by Carmine, Leonardo and Martin Gugliotti, who all share a Rocky Hill business address, state records show.
The 14,400-square-foot building, formerly home to a Rite Aid pharmacy, has been recently renovated with other new tenants including the International Institute of Cosmetology.
The proposed use focuses on beverage and food sales, with drive-thru service identified as a primary feature.
A letter of intent submitted with the application describes a tentative lease arrangement between the property owner and Neil’s Donuts LLC. The document details tenant use of the building and parking areas, along with exclusive rights to the drive-thru circulation area, subject to municipal approvals.
The agreement is contingent on town approval of the drive-thru use.
