Nearly 1,400 military personnel in Connecticut were furloughed today as a result of the partial government shutdown, the Associated Press reported.
The Navy submarine base in Groton sent 750 workers home, while the Connecticut National Guard furloughed 540, officials told the AP.
The Submarine Force Library and Museum in Groton, Weir Farm in Ridgefield, the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge in Westbrook and the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge were among the state attractions closed by the federal shutdown, the AP said.
