National operator finishes renovations at two CT hotels

A national hotel operator has completed renovations at two Connecticut properties, upgrading a 150-room Hilton in Glastonbury and a 128-suite Marriott outside Mystic, according to an announcement from Philadelphia-based HHM Hotels.

At the Hilton Garden Inn Hartford South/Glastonbury in Somerset Square, the work covered all 150 guestrooms along with the lobby, restaurant and meeting areas. The hotel also has about 3,150 square feet of event space.

The renovation added what the company calls wellness rooms, equipped with sleep and muscle-recovery gear and in-room exercise equipment.

“Every enhancement was thoughtfully designed to create a more comfortable, connected, and welcoming experience for our guests,” said Krystal Rivera, the Glastonbury hotel’s general manager.

HHM has pitched the Glastonbury property to corporate travelers, citing its proximity to Pratt & Whitney, Travelers, The Hartford and Aetna, along with the Connecticut Convention Center and Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

At the Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic Groton at 40 Whitehall Ave., the company renovated the suites and common areas, using maritime artwork. Each suite has a full kitchen and separate living and sleeping areas.

The Mystic hotel draws on a different mix of demand. HHM has marketed it to guests on extended assignments, pointing to General Dynamics Electric Boat, Naval Submarine Base New London, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Pfizer’s Groton campus, as well as the Mystic Seaport Museum and Mystic Aquarium.

HHM did not disclose the cost of either renovation. The company manages both hotels, but does not own them.
