Footprints Floors, a floor installation company, recently expanded into Stamford and plans to expand into New Haven County over the next two years.
Friends-turned-business partners Lee Becker and Erica Garcia brought the first Footprints Floors national franchise to Connecticut earlier this year, under the name of Footprints Floors of Southern CT.
They quit their jobs in the beverage industry at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and got into the home improvement market. They said it was the best decision they ever made.
“It seems that once people realized they would be spending more time at home, they also decided that they should improve their home,” Becker said. “Home improvement projects will never stop, and we do believe we will continue to see growth due to the remote work lifestyle.”
The brand was founded in 2008 by Owner Bryan Park in Denver, Colorado, and has more than 150 franchises that specialize in installing hardwood floors, carpets, tile floors, backsplashes and laminates.
Becker and Garcia currently own two territories stretching from Greenwich to Fairfield, which includes installation service to residents of Darien, Norwalk, Southport and surrounding areas.
The goal is to expand their next territory from Fairfield to New Haven.
“Long term, we would like to continue to expand northeast throughout Connecticut,” Becker said. “Our next preferred territory would stretch from Fairfield to New Haven, and from there we would either press north or farther east as we continue to grow.”
Becker and Lee said their first year revenue goal is $300,000, and they hope to double that next year with people continuing to invest in sprucing up their homes.
