The national organization Clean Energy States Alliance honored Connecticut and the Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority with the State Leadership in Clean Energy Award for the original incarnation of the solar electric lease program.
CEFIA was one of seven organizations to receive the award, which also went to state programs in Massachusetts, California, New York, New Hampshire. The award is designed for states that accelerate adoption of clean energy technology.
CEFIA first designed the solar lease program this year, providing incentives to build solar electric installations throughout Connecticut. The organization is revamping the program, announcing a new public-private solar lease program in early 2013.
CEFIA was created in 2011 that was meant to be a step above the former Connecticut Clean Energy Fund. Rather than relying solely on government incentives to fund clean energy technologies, CEFIA’s charge is to use limited government funds to spur private capital investments for the technologies.
