Natalie’s Candy Jar opens at Bradley amid retail, facilities expansion

Bradley International Airport announced Monday the opening of Natalie’s Candy Jar amid an effort to expand the airport’s retail offerings.

The shop is now located in the Gates 1 to 12 concourse, between Gates 1 and Gate 3, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority.

“Natalie’s Candy Jar is a popular brand with a national footprint, making it a key addition to Bradley’s customer experience,” Dillon said. “(The store) will be well-received by travelers of all ages.”Dillon said at the time he expected to fill four in the fall, and an additional three in 2020.

The opening tracks with a wider effort to revamp Bradley

The airport began accepting applications for specialty retail shops and food vendors in July for seven retail kiosks it was looking to fill in Terminal A, said CAA Executive Director Kevin Dillon. However, a CAA spokeswoman said the Natalie’s Candy Jar addition isn’t part of those seven kiosks.

Bradley is currently in the design phase an up-to-$50 million project that will relocate the airport’s baggage explosive detection system from the lobby to a separate and newly built facility, with the goal of creating more space for an anticipated increase in passenger traffic.

The airport is also in the middle of a $210 million ground transportation center project, which began in July. That new facility will place all rental car companies at the airport in the transportation center, eliminating the need for shuttle service from the airport to the rental agencies’ off-site locations. It will include 830 parking spaces for rental cars.
