Nassau’s closing poor Enfield store

Nassau’s Furniture is shutting its weak Enfield store at 1600 King St. and will begin liquidating the location’s inventory starting Black Friday, authorities say.

Its last day will be Feb. 22, at the latest, officials said Wednesday.

Five full-time employees will lose their jobs, the company said.

The store has operated in Enfield more than three decades but has been underperforming of late, said David Goldberg, president of the family run chain.

“Closing our store isn’t easy given the impact on our valued employees,” said Goldberg said in a statement. “We had to make this tough decision to strengthen our financial position so that we can continue to service our customers from the South Windsor and Avon locations”

The South Windsor store will provide service to customers who’ve purchased from the Enfield location, he said.
