The New Zealand Ministry of Defence on Monday accepted the first part of its $120 million order of Super Seasprite helicopters from Bloomfield manufacturer Kaman Corp.
Kaman and New Zealand entered into a $120 million contract in May 2013 for the 10 helicopters, along with spare parts, a flight simulator, and logistics support.
The aircraft was originally sold to Australia, but that country returned them, leaving Kaman to find a new customer.
New Zealand accepted the helicopter in Bloomfield. The first three Seasprites are not expected to be delivered to Auckland, N.Z. until early 2015. The rest will arrive later next year.
