The Clam Box, a New Britain seafood restaurant, on Thursday will celebrate its recent debut in the former home of the West Side Tavern.
Mayor Erin Stewart will join restaurateur Nicholas Augustino and other city and economic-development officials to dedicate the eatery, which actually opened in April, at 11:30 a.m. at 586 West Main St. Augustino acquired the former tavern in 2018, city officials said.
Augustino also owns the city’s famed German eatery, East Side Restaurant at 131 Dwight St.
Patterned after the Wethersfield Clam Box on Silas Deane Highway, where Augustino once worked, the New Britain restaurant’s menu features fresh seafood. It is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
“It’s exciting to see a current business owner expand their operations here in New Britain,” Stewart said in a statement. “It’s a sign that business owners feel confident about the direction of our city and see room for growth.”
