Murtha Cullina adds entertainment/sports practice group

The law firm of Murtha Cullina LLP is establishing a new entertainment and sports practice group. 

Lawyers in the group represent clients including professional athletes, actors, models, producers, directors, photographers, authors, and industry executives on matters such as artist management, literary publishing, film and television, record contracts, models/model agencies and casting companies, professional sports, and the negotiation of employment agreements and contracts for industry executives. 

The new group will be headed by attorney William F. Fitzgerald, who according to the firm boasts long-standing relationships with business managers, sports and talent agents, publicists, literary agents and photographer representatives.
 
Murtha’s Entertainment and Sports Practice Group will also represent clients in litigation matters including breach of contract and fiduciary duty obligations, right of publicity and privacy, copyright and trademark infringement, and court confirmation of minor’s contracts. In addition, the group will manage immigration matters for international performers and athletes.
 
Attorneys also serve as outside general counsel to a number of prominent clients. Current sports clients include Mika Zibanejad, a player for the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers. Other New York clients include a public relations firm, hospitality group, model management company, and a marketing company. Connecticut clients include a digital music recording, video media production and independent record label company.
