Five nurses at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center recently were presented with Mullane Nursing Awards. The awards were established by members of the Mullane family in memory of the late Kathryn M. Mullane, who was treated at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center prior to her death. They are presented to nurses who exhibit the qualities of compassion, communication and collaboration, and exceed the needs and expectations of patients and their families. Winners are nominated by members of the Saint Francis family and patients, and then selected by a panel of judges composed of the previous year’s award winners. Pictured, from left, are: Rolf Knoll, M.D., chief medical officer; Rhiannon Salcius, R.N.; Denise Ouelett, R.N.; Amy Marcantonio, R.N.; Deborah Rossi, R.N.; Shirley Walker-Thomas, R.N.; Patti LaMonica, M.S.N., R.N., interim vice president for patient care services; and Kevin Mullane.
