M&T Bank is awarding $6 million in grants to 44 nonprofit organizations across Connecticut, the company announced.
The Buffalo, New York-based bank, which recently acquired People’s United Bank, is providing the grants through its Connecticut Amplify Fund. The $25 million program will provide unrestricted multi-year support to organizations.
The Amplify Fund serves Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont – states in which M&T has branch locations through its recently expanded footprint.
The grants were awarded based on responses to proposals submitted by nonprofits that showed a commitment to high-need, underserved or marginalized communities.
The funding includes projects that help low-income Black, indigenous and people of color obtain job training and mentorship, along with direct support to women-owned small businesses. There is also funding for organizations that provide housing to low-income residents and for physical and mental health services for homeless children.
