The owners of a Middletown-based automotive accessory store recently paid $3.2 million for a Newington building hosting a Progressive Casualty Insurance claims center.
Matthew D. Pensiero, of Farmington, co-owner of Attention to Detail, said Tuesday morning that he and his business partner, William Murphy, of Farmington, bought the Newington building because they have sold their Middletown location and will eventually have to move.
Pensiero and Murphy, late last year, sold their 11,196-square-foot service shop on nearly 1 acre at 195 deKoven Drive in Middletown to the City of Middletown for $3 million. The city plans to tear down the building for use in a larger redevelopment mingling apartments and retail on a site adjacent to its downtown and near the Connecticut River.
Middletown agreed to lease back the property to Attention to Detail for 18 months, giving the company time to search for a new home.
In a sale recorded by Newington on July 2, ATD Realty LLC paid $3.2 million to Ohio-based Progressive for its 16,259-square-foot showroom building on 4.2 acres at 40 Commerce Court in Newington. The building was completed in 2006.
