CW 20 appointed Todd Desroches account executive. Previously, he was account director for Madison Square Garden Connecticut.

The YMCA of Greater Hartford elected the following people to its board of directors: William A. Bloom, senior vice president of insurance operations and chief information officer, The Travelers Cos.; James E. Bowers, director of compliance risk services, Day Pitney; Jerald B. Gooden, vice president and head of small & middle market field operations, Aetna; and Marci Shepard, owner, Marcie Shepard Seminars.

BL Companies in Meriden appointed Robert Celata director of mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering division. Previously, Celata was vice president of HP Engineering in North Haven.

Cashman & Katz in Glastonbury promoted Shannon Cunningham to media coordinator. April Pelletier was hired as administrative assistant to fill Cunningham’s position.

The Connecticut Society of CPAs elected the following local people to its 2007-2008 leadership: John J. Palmeri, manager, John J. Palmeri Attorney at Law, president; John J. Turgeon, director of professional development, Kostin, Ruffkess & Co., president-elect; Gregory A. Lainas, division director in Hartford, Robert Half Management Resources, member-at-large; Carl R. Umberto Santaniello was named member of the firm at Kostin Ruffkess & Co. in Farmington.

Dr. Iacob Marcovici joined the medical and dental staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. Previously, Marcovici was director of the Bristol Hospital Women’s Health Center.

Verizon Wireless in Meriden named William Spargo director of data sales for the New England region. Previously, Spargo was Southern New England director of retail sales and operations for the company. Additionally, Verizon Wireless hired Mark Harris as director of retail sales and operations for Southern New England. Previously, Harris was director of business sales in Verizon’s up-state New York region.
