BNY Mellon Wealth Management has hired James Carley as vice president and sales director for its West Hartford office. Carley has more than 30 years of leadership experience ranging from strategic planning, business development and wealth management to trust, estate and not-for-profit administration. He joins BNY Mellon from Oppenheimer Trust Co. in New Jersey. There he was responsible for managing all functions of the $3.5 billion company. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Webster Trust Co. He will report to Robert Penney, managing director, BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s Northern Connecticut region. BNY Mellon Wealth Management is among the top 10 U.S. wealth managers with about $161 billion in private client assets.

Steven Rosen has been named executive chef at the Connecticut Convention Center. He brings 25 years of culinary experience to the post, most recently serving as executive chef for the AAA 4-Diamond Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton. His resume includes serving as executive chef roles at numerous upscale restaurants in Massachusetts, including Dalya’s in Bedford, St. Cloud in Boston, and Rarities at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge. Rosen, a resident of Hebron, will be responsible for all food and beverage service at the Convention Center, including menu creation and day-to-day culinary operations. The Connecticut Convention Center is managed by Waterford Venue Services, with headquarters in Waterford.

Worx Branding & Advertising in Prospect has named Andrea Cusano as director of brand strategy. In her role, she will assess initiatives, define market opportunities and develop strategic plans for top Worx clients. In addition, she will leverage her experience as adjunct professor of social media at Quinnipiac University to steward clients in the social media space. Prior to joining Worx, she had founded Redhead Unlimited, a brand marketing and strategy company. Dan Socci has been named chief executive officer of VeruTEK Technologies, Inc. in Bloomfield. He had been named executive vice president and chief operating officer in May. Prior to joining VeruTEK, Socci was a vice president in general management and marketing and sales roles with Hewlett Packard. He will lead VeruTEK’s research and development effort in green technologies.

BlumShapiro has appointed William C. Franzon as tax principal in the company’s Shelton office. Franzon comes to BlumShapiro from Grant Thornton, LLP in New York City where he served as partner. He is a licensed CPA in Connecticut and New York.

Maria Pepe VanDerLaan and Dana Marie Mango have joined Murtha Cullina LLP’s litigation and health care departments in the law firm’s Hartford office. VanDerLaan joins the firm as a partner and comes to Murtha with almost 20 years of experience representing a multi-industry client base in the areas of complex litigation and health care. She has represented many of Connecticut’s hospitals and other entities in litigation against private payors in defending medical malpractice matters and in structuring risk management strategies. Mango joins the firm as counsel and comes to Murtha with almost 12 years of experience representing clients in complex litigation in the areas of insurance coverage, breach of contract, trade secrets, non-competition agreements, negligence and product liability. Murtha’s Health Care Practice Group is one of the largest in Connecticut.

The Alliance for Non-Profit Growth and Opportunity has hired Sarah Morin of South Windsor as director of membership engagement. She will leverage her years of experience working in the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds to increase awareness and visibility of TANGO and its partners. SmithEdwards Architects has appointed Craig E. DeJong an officer of the firm and director of project production. DeJong has been responsible for managing numerous complex projects including the restoration of Trinity College’s ‘Longwalk’, the adaptive reuse of the University of Hartford’s ‘Handel Performing Arts Center’ and the envelope repairs and restoration of the Wadsworth Atheneum’s campus. As director of production he is responsible for all phases of project delivery associated with the firm’s historic preservation and education projects, managing all phases of their development through construction documents, contract administration and project closeout. Also, Silvana Righenzi has been promoted to an associate architect. She is responsible for the environmental design and documentation for all LEED registered projects. Elise T. Kubiak has joined the firm as a production specialist. She is a BIM specialist with 3D modeling, rendering, animation experience as well as traditional drafting in CADD and graphic design skills. Joann Picone has been promoted to senior associate. She has been with the firm 26 years and serves as office computer systems manager and lead production specialist.

Cynthia D’Alessandri-Silva and Cristian Ionita have joined the Department of Nephrology at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Dr. D’Alessandri-Silva recently completed her fellowship in pediatric nephrology at Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is an assistant professor of pediatrics with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Ionita comes from the University of Texas Southwestern/Children’s Medical Center of Dallas where he completed his fellowship in pediatric neuromuscular diseases. He also served as a child neurology attending physician and medical director of the neuromuscular diagnostic clinic at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science/Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He also is an assistant professor of pediatrics with the UConn School of Medicine.

Patricia Leonard has been appointed senior vice president for Right Management’s Northeast Region. Right Management is the talent and career management expert within Manpower. Leonard’s prior role was as executive director of Pearson Workforce Education where she was a contracted “intrapreneur” for developing a new business division, product line and corporate capability. Past experience includes the Wall Street Journal Corporate Solutions Group, American Management Association Management Education Group, McGraw Hill Lifetime Learning, Maxwell Macmillan Publishing, Thomson Publishing, and Simon and Schuster.

Lisa M. Gockley has joined Sacred Heart University as director of Employee Benefits. She will develop, recommend and install all employee benefits programs at the university. She comes to the university with more than two decades in employee benefits experience and skills management, having served with corporations including Ann Taylor, Avon and AON Corp.

Kenneth C. Montgomery has been appointed chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and its first vice president, effective Jan. 1. He will succeed Paul M. Connolly, who in April announced his plan to retire at the end of the year, after 36 years with the bank. Montgomery is executive vice president and system chief technology officer at the Federal Reserve System’s information technology organization, known as FRIT, based in Richmond, Virginia. In his new role, Montgomery will lead the bank’s financial services areas and many of its internal support functions, such as information technology, financial management, and facilities operations.
