Michael Wise has become the new president of Farmington-based ConnectiCare health plans. Wise has led ConnectiCare since 2005 as chief financial officer and executive vice president. His succession has long been planned internally. Mickey Herbert, age 65, announced his plans to retire as president and CEO of ConnectiCare at the beginning of the year. Wise was previously at Cigna Healthcare where he had served in a variety of senior-level roles since 1999. He was formerly chief financial officer for Kaiser Permanente in Maryland and Physicians Quality Care in Illinois. Prior to these assignments he held a senior management position with Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting.

Angela M. Levick has been promoted to the call center manager for Rockville Bank. Levick has been with Rockville Bank for eight years, beginning in the operations department. While in operations, she assisted customers with Rockville Bank’s electronic services. She was promoted to assistant call center manager in 2003 shortly after Rockville Bank opened its new call center.

Saint Joseph College announced the appointment of six faculty members to its new School of Pharmacy which, pending appropriate approvals, will open in the fall at Hartford 21 on Trumbull Street in downtown Hartford. The appointments are: Professor Dalia Giedrimiene, M.D., Ph.D.; Associate Professor Diane Dean, Ph.D. and assistant professors Diane Pacitti, Ph.D., R.Ph.; Doreen Soldato, Ph.D.; Mark Sweezy, Ph.D.; and Rajesh Vadlapatla, Ph.D.

The Hilton Garden Inn Hartford North/Bradley International Airport announced that Gabriel Santiago has been appointed corporate sales manager for the hotel located at 555 Corporate Drive, Windsor. Prior to joining the Hilton Garden Inn, Santiago was an executive sales manager with the Hartford/Farmington Marriott.

Companions for Living, a West Hartford agency that provides home care services for seniors and people with disabilities, announced Elaine Reid has been appointed director, business development. Prior to joining Companions for Living, she was sales and marketing manager for Datahal LLC of Canton and previously managed the export trade group of HSBC Equator in sub-Saharan Africa.

Peoples Securities, Inc., a subsidiary of People’s United Bank, announced that Scott Joseph has joined the firm as a financial advisor. Joseph joins People’s Securities Inc. from Fidelity Investments, where he served as a senior financial planning consultant. Joseph has more than 17 years of experience in the financial industry and is a registered representative with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority holding his Series 7, 63, 65 and 26 licenses.

Jackson Lewis LLP, a workplace law firm, announced that Victoria “Tory” Woodin Chavey has joined the firm as a partner in its Hartford office. Chavey was formerly a partner with the Hartford law office of Day Pitney LLP, where she worked with Hartford Managing Partner Beverly Garofalo and Litigation Manager Peggy Strange.

Sustainable Engineering Solutions LLC announced Keith A. David Jr., CCP, LEED AP, has joined the company as project manager. He has extensive experience managing commissioning projects. His past clients include William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Bridgeport Public Schools, Cooperative Educational Services in Trumbull, and Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury. He previously worked for BVH Integrated Services Inc. in Bloomfield.

Jessica Somers, photography instructor at Tunxis Community College and a Bristol resident, recently received honorable mention for the 2009 Excellence in Teaching Award from Center, formerly the Santa Fe Center for Photography. The annual award recognizes and rewards a college, post-graduate, or high school educator for their dedication and passion for photographic teaching.
