McCarter & English has elected Catherine A. Mohan as a member of the law firm’s 11-member executive committee. The founding partner of the firm’s Hartford office, Mohan has been an attorney at McCarter for 10 years and was the first female partner to hold the title of office managing partner. In addition to her role on the executive committee, she will continue her work in the product liability practice at the firm. Mohan’s primary areas of practice are complex products liability, toxic tort, pharmaceutical, environmental and personal injury litigation. For over 24 years, she has represented multi-national and Fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S. and has been national counsel to asbestos litigation defendants for a large part of her career.

Curtis Packaging has promoted John Giusto to the newly created post of chief operating officer. Giusto has served as senior vice president of manufacturing for the past three years at Curtis. In his new role as COO, he is responsible for all of the company’s manufacturing groups. He also will oversee continuous improvement, quality control and statistical control programs. Giusto had over 40 years of manufacturing experience in the package printing industry before joining Curtis in April 2004. He served for 11 years as vice president of manufacturing at Inland Consumer Packaging.

Trent (T.J.) Barber, of Wethersfield, has joined Manchester Community College as the director of student activities in the college’s student affairs division. He will be responsible for developing, designing and implementing services to promote the social, cultural, fitness and recreational needs of students. He will also advise the student government and other student organizations, support co-curricular and community-service activities, and assess the social, cultural and recreational needs of students. Barber had been the associate director of campus life and an assistant director for operations at Trinity College in Hartford.

Also at Manchester Community College, Raymond Kingston is the new webmaster in the college’s Institutional Development Division. Kingston, a Manchester resident, is the principal designer and owner of Microspective Multimedia, a web development, print design and branding company. Formerly, he was the regional graphic designer for the American Lung Association.
