Jonathan M. Daube became the interim president of Middlesex Community College (MxCC) on July 6. The board of trustees of Community-Technical Colleges appointed Daube to the post earlier this year, replacing President Wilfredo Nieves who is now president of Capital Community College. Daube’s background includes working as an English teacher, school superintendent, graduate school director and a community college president in Western Massachusetts. He joins MxCC after serving over 20 years as president of Manchester Community College. Daube will continue as interim president until the position is filled, which is expected in the spring of 2011.

Hands On Hartford has hired Alice Turner Thompson as the director of its Huntington School Services Initiative. In addition to managing a staff of over 40 certified teachers, she will play a key role in the program’s expansion in Hartford and its surrounding communities. Thompson was previously the president of Turner Training USA, LLC, an independent organizational training and development company. She has also held director-level positions with Cigna Corp. and Travelers Cos. Most recently, she graduated from Encore!Hartford, an intensive leadership training program through University of Connecticut¹s Nonprofit Leadership Program. Her nonprofit work includes board positions with the University of Hartford’s Entrepreneurial Center Committee and Judah House, Inc. In 2003, she founded and served as president of the Urban Reach Institute, an organization that provides youth development, education and employment programs to at-risk youth.

Cheryl A. Barnard has been named to the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees. She is the vice president/dean of student affairs at Saint Joseph College (SJC) in West Hartford, where she has served as a senior administrator since 2007. Previously, she served as associate dean for student affairs at Quinnipiac University where she had worked in a variety of capacities since 1990. Barnard volunteers as the Connecticut state chair for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

Robert S. Ciraco has been promoted to assistant vice president/mortgage operations and secondary market officer at Rockville Bank. Ciraco has over 15 years of experience in consumer and residential real estate lending. He holds his Federal Housing Administration delegated underwriter rating.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston has extended the terms of both the chairman and deputy chairman of its board of directors. Henri A. Termeer, a Class C director, has been named chairman of the board of directors for 2011. Termeer, who became chairman this year, has been a board member since 2007. He served as deputy chairman in 2007 — 2009. Termeer also serves as chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Genzyme Corp. He is a member of the board of directors of the MIT Corp., Massachusetts General Hospital, aPartners Healthcare, and Massachusetts Governor Patrick’s Council of Economic Advisors. Kirk A. Sykes, also a Class C director, will continue as deputy chairman for 2011. Sykes has been a board member since 2008. He is president and managing director of Urban Strategy America Fund, L.P. Sykes serves on the boards of overseers at Beth Israel Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital Osher Center, New England Board of National Association of Securities Professionals, and on the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City Board.

United Solutions Inc. has hired Walter MacDougall to help New England’s construction businesses use software to run at peak efficiency. MacDougall will focus his efforts on two products — Sage Timberline Estimating Software and Viewpoint Construction Software. MacDougall has 10 years of experience in software solutions and helped build the Quest Solutions estimating program into a leader in New England.
