Patrick Duffany has been appointed to lead the state and local tax practice at J.H. Cohn LLP. He’ll be based in the Glastonbury office of the audit, tax, and business advisory firms. Duffany joined the firm as a state tax partner in 2009, with a particular emphasis on Connecticut and New York tax matters. He has more than 20 years of experience in state and local tax matters, including income/franchise, sales and use, conveyance, property, and gross receipts tax filing and compliance issues. CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. (CBRE) has promoted of Michael J. Riccio and Mitchell W. Kiffe to senior managing director, capital markets. The two — Riccio in Hartford and Kiffe in Tysons Corner, Va. — will be co-heads of production for CBRE’s Debt & Equity Finance practice. In his new role, Riccio will focus on expanding life company correspondent and lender relationships while remaining the northeast Debt & Equity Finance regional leader and continuing to serve long-standing institutional accounts. Kiffe will continue his multi-family market focus while also seeking to enhance CBRE’s collaboration with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and the FHA as well as other capital sources. Riccio has led CBRE Capital Markets Debt & Equity efforts in Connecticut. During his more than 26 years in the real estate sector, he closed over $4 billion of mortgage transactions in major metropolitan areas around the United States in all property types. Prior to opening the CBRE Capital Markets office in Hartford, Riccio spent 23 years at CIGNA.

nPlusOne Consulting, an organizational development consulting firm based in West Hartford, has added Betsy Flaherty as an associate partner. Flaherty brings 15 years of legal experience in government, education and healthcare as well as knowledge of not-for-profit organizational policy. She has been a board member of the American Diabetes Association and a guest lecturer for the University of Vermont Medical School. Flaherty will be focusing on client relations, new markets development, as well as training.

Daniel J. McMahon of Marlborough has been named a partner at CCR LLP, a regional accounting firm with offices in Glastonbury. McMahon specializes in providing attest and non-attest services to privately-held companies, with extensive expertise in business advisory and internal control risk assessment services for small- and medium-sized businesses. He serves as liaison partner to the BDO Seidman Alliance and is responsible for developing and executing the firm’s overall Sales and Marketing strategy. The firm employs more than 200 in offices that stretch from Boston to Orlando.

Shawmut Design and Construction has appointed Michael C. Sanchez as its vice president of field operations. He joined Shawmut in 1992, and most recently served as director of field operations. Over the last 18 years, Sanchez has had a variety of roles from project superintendent to general superintendent, as well as project manager to managing director of the commercial group. Shawmut is headquartered in Boston with offices in New Haven, New York; Providence; and Las Vegas.

Mintz & Hoke Communications Group in Avon has named Sara-Beth Donovan to the new position of vice president and director of media from senior media planner. She will direct the overall media product for Mintz & Hoke and assume leadership of Media Only, Mintz & Hoke’s stand-alone media planning and buying service. Donovan joined Mintz & Hoke in 2007 and was responsible for setting media strategies and direction for major clients.

Wheeler Clinic has promoted Laura S. Minor to staff development manager. She joins the organization’s quality and behavioral health operations team and will help coordinate the Plainville clinic’s new workforce development initiatives. Minor was the program manager for the, clinic’s prevention, wellness and recovery program, and the training manager for the clinic’s employee assistance program. She is an adjunct professor in the University of Connecticut’s Department of Community Medicine.

He will oversee the human resources function across Marcum’s 23 offices, with a focus on talent recruitment and retention and further enhancing the firm’s recognized training programs.
